Safe Medications for OB Patients:We recommend that no unnecessary medications be taken in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. If medication is absolutely necessary please choose from the following list.
What to take for:Headaches…….Tylenol Indigestion…….Mylanta, Riopan, Gelusil Plus Liquid, Tums, or Maalox Constipation…..Citrucel, Colace, Metamucil, Doxidan, Surfax. Increase fibers and fluids. If ineffective, Milk of Magnesia. Sleeplessness…..No medication; hot milk Stuffy Nose…….Afrin or saline nose drops, Chlortrimeton Tablets Head Colds…….Chlortrimeton, Tylenol, Robitussin Expectorant, Benadryl, Vicks Vaporub Fever……………Tylenol Sore Throat……..Gargle with Cepacol; Cepacol Lozenges (salt water gargle) Cough……………Plain Robitussion, Cough drops, Robitussin, DM, Benylin Expectorant Diarrhea………..Kaopectate, Immodium AD
